STEP 1.Choose your VPN protocol


STEP 2. Ubuntu Installation

Before we start an active Zoog VPN subscription is required and your device must be connected to Internet.

Before you get started with your Linux setup...

You need full administrative privileges on your computer.

Step 1 - Open Terminal

Step 2 - Install network-manager-openvpn

In your terminal type:

'sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn'

Then press 'Enter'.

Step 3 - Confirm that you Want to Continue

You will be prompted: "Do you want to continue? Y/N" Type 'Y' and hit 'Enter'.

Step 4 - Restart Network Manager

Once installation is complete, type the following to restart Network Manager:

'sudo restart network-manager'

Then press 'Enter'.

Step 5 - Click 'Configure VPN'

Outside the terminal click on the 'Network Manager' icon, expand VPN Connections, and choose 'Configure VPN'.

Step 6 - Click 'Add' to add VPN Connection

A 'Network Connections' window will appear with the 'VPN' tab open. Click Add.

Step 7 - Choose 'Import a saved OpenVPN configuration'

A new windows called 'Choose a VPN Connection Type' will open. Select 'Import a saved OpenVPN configuration' in the drop-down menu and click 'Create'.

Step 8 - Download ZoogVPN Certificate Authority and Configuration Files


Download ca.crt and OpenVPN Configuration Files according to your VPN Plan. Unzip the archive file and save the folder on your device for later use.

Import the '.ovpn' file for the desired VPN server from the list.


Please login into your account to select a VPN server.


NB: Choose a VPN server of your desired country (nearest to your location, if available) to connect to. Visit the Network page for more details.

Step 9 - Save VPN Connection

Enter your ZoogVPN username/email and password credentials.

For CA Certificate browse and select the downloaded CA Certificate ('/etc/openvpn/ca.zoogvpn.com.crt').

Click on 'Save...'. Skip to step 12 and connect to VPN, otherwise try steps 10 and 11.

Step 10 - Edit VPN Connection (optional)

In the 'Editing VPN Connection' window check that these settings correspond to the following informaiton and make changes where necessary:

Connection name: ZoogVPN

Gateway: Enter a 'Server Address' from above.

1. - Type: choose 'Password'

2. - User name: your ZoogVPN email address

3. - Password: your ZoogVPN password

4. - CA Certificate: browse and select the downloaded CA Certificate ('/etc/openvpn/ca.zoogvpn.com.crt').

Step 11 - Click 'Advanced' at the bottom of the window (Optional)

To use a UDP connection, type the 992 value for the 'Use custom gateway port' field.

To use a TCP connection, type the 443 value for the 'Use custom gateway port' field.

For Cipher enter AES-256-CBC.

For Authentication enter SHA256.

Keep LZO Compression OFF.

Step 12 - Connect to ZoogVPN

Click on 'Network Manager' --> 'VPN Connections' --> 'ZoogVPN' connection

- The 'Network Manager' icon will begin spinning. You may be prompted to enter a password. If so, this is your system account keychain password, not your Zoog VPN password.

- Once connected, the 'Network Manager' icon will have a lock next to it indicating you are connected successfully with Zoog VPN.

Check that the flag has now turned to the desired country flag when logged in into your account.

To disconnect simply:

Click on the 'Network Manager' icon in the panel bar --> 'VPN Connections' --> select 'Disconnect VPN'. The lock should no longer appear next to 'Network Manager' icon.

Enjoy! You can now access numerous online streaming services, and browse the Internet with privacy and security.
